Patient Resources

Dimensions Clinic is a safe space for queer and trans youth. We offer primary care, sexual and reproductive health, therapy, and psychiatry, with free or low-cost options for eligible patients. Our team helps with insurance navigation and referrals so care is easier to start and maintain.

This page brings together practical tools for visits, refills, mental health, sexual health, and day-to-day support. It explains what to bring, how to schedule, and where to get help between visits. If you are new, our intake team can guide you through registration and eligibility at your first appointment.

We focus on LGBTQ+ youth and young adults. Clinic materials and services center on people ages 12 to 25, including those exploring identity and those in transition. Care is respectful, confidential, and welcoming.

Helpful Resources for Our Patients

Below are community and partner resources we recommend often. They support access to medication, mental health, sexual health, and gender-affirming care. Each group is independent. Use what fits your needs; our team can help with referrals.

Trans Lifeline

What it offers: A peer-run hotline with trans counselors for confidential, judgment-free support. Calls center on your goals and needs.

Good to know: Microgrants for legal name and gender-marker updates are temporarily paused during an organizational reset; check the site for status updates. Text support is also available. This line focuses on peer support rather than emergency intervention and is useful between clinic visits or while waiting for therapy appointments.

Trans Lifeline is a peer-run hotline staffed by trans counselors. It offers emotional support without active rescue unless there is imminent danger. Calls are private and center the caller’s goals. In addition to the hotline, Trans Lifeline funds microgrants for legal name and gender marker updates, which removes a major barrier to housing, employment, and school safety. English and Spanish support is available. Patients who are questioning, navigating disclosure, or managing dysphoria often find the peer model helpful. Our staff can help you review grant steps, gather documents, and plan timelines for ID changes alongside your care plan.

UCSF Child and Adolescent Gender Center

What it offers: Multidisciplinary gender-affirming care for youth and young adults, including endocrine evaluation, adolescent medicine, mental health, and care coordination.

Good to know: The program outlines a clear pathway with labs, follow-ups, and shared decision-making for families. They provide specialty consultation and documentation support; surgical care is referred out when needed. Use the 877-UC-CHILD line for fast scheduling while your referral is prepared.

The UCSF Child and Adolescent Gender Center provides multidisciplinary gender-affirming care for youth and young adults. Services include medical evaluation, hormone therapy, mental health support, voice and communication therapy referrals, and family education. The team coordinates labs and imaging and helps with school letters and documentation when requested. For families seeking a structured pathway with clear milestones and shared decision-making, the program offers a consistent framework. We refer to UCSF when a patient needs specialty evaluation, complex endocrine care, or coordinated mental health services beyond the scope of primary care.

Planned Parenthood

What it offers: Sexual and reproductive health with transparent fees and sliding-scale options, including STI testing and treatment, contraception, HPV vaccination, cervical cancer screening, and many locations offering PrEP and PEP.

Good to know: Telehealth is available in many states for consults and refills, which helps when travel or privacy at home is a concern. Use the phone line or locator to book at the nearest center.

Happy Family Store

What it offers: The family pharmacy option for insured and uninsured patients with affordable prices, home delivery, and standard prescription verification.

Good to know: Orders ship in factory-sealed packaging with visible expirations; live chat and email support are available if you prefer not to call.

Happy Family Store is an online pharmacy that supports patients with and without insurance. The focus is low prices on medications, fast fulfillment, and home delivery. Prescriptions are verified before shipment, and items arrive factory-sealed with visible expiration dates. Many patients use it to keep monthly costs steady for long-term medicines like advair, sildenafil, or asthma refills. Over-the-counter items and basic wellness products are available in the same cart, which helps reduce the number of stops. Dimensions Clinic does not mark up these orders or share patient data. We simply provide the option when it solves a budget or access problem. Ask our staff to compare prices or timing with your current pharmacy before you switch.

The Trevor Project provides 24/7 crisis counseling for LGBTQ young people by phone, chat, and text. Counselors are trained to de-escalate risk, offer coping strategies, and connect callers to local support. The service also hosts a moderated peer community and publishes practical guides for parents, schools, and allies. Patients use Trevor when they need immediate emotional support outside clinic hours or when they prefer to talk to someone who understands LGBTQ stressors. Conversations are confidential and focused on safety. We encourage patients to save the contact options to their phones, and we can help set up access during an appointment if needed.

GoodRx

What it offers: Real-time prescription price comparisons and free digital coupons usable at many U.S. pharmacies.

Good to know: GoodRx is not insurance; at the counter you typically choose either your plan price or the GoodRx price, whichever is lower. We often use this for short courses, bridge fills while a prior authorization is pending, or when deductibles are high.

GoodRx helps patients lower out-of-pocket costs by comparing prescription prices at nearby pharmacies and providing free digital coupons. Search by drug name, dose, and quantity to see real-time prices across chains and independents, then show the GoodRx coupon to the pharmacist at checkout. Most pharmacies in the U.S. accept these discounts. GoodRx is not insurance; patients typically choose either their plan price or the GoodRx cash price at the counter, whichever is lower. The platform also lists manufacturer savings programs and offers optional memberships (e.g., GoodRx Gold) with additional discounts for some medications. We use it for short-term courses, bridge fills while prior authorization is pending, and when a patient has a high deductible. Our staff can help you look up prices, print a coupon if needed, and note the pharmacy that offers the best total for your prescription.
